Food Delivery Companies Might Be Indirectly Affected by New U.S. Tariffs -- Market Talk

Dow Jones
04-03

1034 GMT - The direct impacts of U.S. President Trump's new tariffs on food delivery companies are very limited, Bryan Garnier analyst Clement Genelot says. The food supply chains of U.S. supermarkets and restaurants primarily rely on the U.S.-Canada-Mexico trade framework. However, the indirect consequences--particularly the resurgence of inflation and the growing risks of recession--pose a more significant challenge, Genelot adds. These economic pressures could damp U.S. consumers' disposable incomes, ultimately reducing their willingness to spend on discretionary services such as food delivery. Uber Technologies, Delivery Hero and Deliveroo are trading lower at 1.3%,1.7% and 0.8%, respectively. (najat.kantouar@wsj.com)
