Sen. Tim Kaine (D., Va.) said more Republicans may support his resolution to undo President Trump's tariffs on Canada if the White House introduces broad-based tariffs at 4 p.m. "I think it could increase pressure from more to join," Kaine told reporters. Four Senate Republicans-Mitch McConnell and Rand Paul of Kentucky, Susan Collins of Maine and Lisa Murkowski of Alaska-have indicated they will join Democrats in favor of the resolution.

The resolution would end an emergency declaration Trump used to impose tariffs on Canadian imports. It heads to the GOP-controlled House if passed. The resolution is unlikely to become law, but the vote could show Republican resistance to Trump's tariffs. "The Senate Bill is just a ploy of the Dems to show and expose the weakness of certain Republicans, namely these four, in that it is not going anywhere because the House will never approve it and I, as your President, will never sign it," Trump posted Wednesday on Truth Social.
