1004 GMT - There are obvious areas that ABN Amro could tackle to improve profitability and lessen share volatility, RBC Capital Markets says in a research note. Marguerite Berard, a former BNP Paribas executive, will take on the CEO role at the Dutch bank later this month. While she isn't well known by the markets, she seems to have the relevant experience to succeed and her arrival will mark a turning point, the analysts write. There is scope for improving the corporate banking return on equity and more to be done to reduce costs as staff numbers and consultancy expenses are high, they note. "Making even some progress toward these self-help levers should drive a rerating," they say. RBC raises its rating to outperform from sector perform. Shares fall 5.5%, tracking the tariffs-triggered selloff in global markets. (elena.vardon@wsj.com)
