Equity Markets Mixed Ahead of Tariff Announcements

US benchmark equity indexes are on track to close mixed on Monday, as markets get ready for more tariff announcements from the Trump administration later this week.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average gained 1.1% to 42,013.8, while the Nasdaq Composite decreased 0.3% to 17,262.4. The S&P 500 was up 0.5% to 5,607.6. Technology and consumer discretionary were the only sectors in the red.

Corcept Therapeutics (CORT) shares soared 109% after the company said its phase 3 trial of relacorilant plus nab-paclitaxel to treat a type of ovarian cancer met its primary goal.

Newton Golf (NWTG) shares were up 44% after the company reported a Q4 net sales year-over-year increase Monday of 817%.

Shares of Moderna (MRNA) were down 7.6%, the worst performer on the S&P 500. The top vaccine official at the US Food and Drug Administration resigned late Friday, blaming the current US Secretary of Health and Human Services for seeking "subservient confirmation of his misinformation and lies."

The 10-year US Treasury yield lost 0.8 basis points to 4.2%, while the two-year rate was down 1.4 basis points to 3.9%.

May West Texas Intermediate crude oil was up 3% to $71.48 a barrel.
