Stellantis stopped the production of electric vehicles made with Chinese joint-venture partner Leapmotor in Poland.

The French-Italian automaker said Tuesday that it stopped manufacturing the Leapmotor's T03 model at its Tychy plant in Poland as of March 30.

"While the company remains fully engaged in the launch of Leapmotor vehicles in Europe, at the moment it is evaluating different production options," a Stellantis spokeswoman said.

The company declined to comment on reasons for the production stop and whether it would relocate the model to another European plant. Leapmotor was not immediately available for comment.

Stellantis, the carmaker behind brands like Jeep and Fiat, owns 51% of Leapmotor International, a joint venture that gives it exclusive rights to export, sell and manufacture the EVs outside China. Stellantis started its production of electric vehicles with Leapmotor in Poland June 2024 due to European Union tariffs on Chinese-made EVs.
