GEM (SHE:002340) has started mass production of its new battery materials for electric vehicle batteries, according to a Shenzhen Stock Exchange filing on Tuesday.
The company said it began shipments of its second-generation ultra-high nickel "9 series" core-shell ternary precursors on Monday from its subsidiary, Jingmen Greenme New Materials.
GEM claims to be the only company in the world capable of mass-producing these advanced materials, with planned monthly shipments of approximately 3,000 tons.
The company has established production facilities in Indonesia and South Korea since 2019, securing nickel resource capacity of 150,000 tons annually.
For the first quarter of 2025, GEM said its production facilities operated above 95% capacity, with nickel metal shipments exceeding 25,000 tons.
