BHP Group (ASX:BHP) sacked more contractors tasked to rehabilitate its Peak Downs, Saraji, and Caval Ridge coal mines in Queensland in a move coinciding with a separate review into operational inefficiencies, The Australian reported Tuesday.
The contractors include 200 workers at DNH Solutions.
In January, the BHP-operated BMA coal business sacked 26 contractors after discovering evidence of misconduct, per the report. A corruption investigation has since then been launched, but it is unclear when it will be completed.
Tuesday's termination also comes as BMA explores ways to cut costs amid weaker coal prices, the report said.
BHP did not immediately respond to a request for comment by MT Newswires.
