0048 GMT - The scrutiny under which Australian supermarkets currently find themselves is likely to stop them from raising fees for so-called click-and-collect services any time soon, according to Citi analyst Adrian Lemme. Comparing Australian operators with global peers, he thinks that click-and-collect charges are a viable option for the likes of Coles and Woolworths to support earnings. The charge would partly recover the service cost, incentivize higher-margin in-store shopping, and enable price reinvestment, he writes in a note to clients. However, public and regulatory scrutiny over pricing practices and market share make near-term moves unlikely, he adds. (stuart.condie@wsj.com)
