Canadian Solar Infrastructure Fund (TYO:9284) said its March power generation fell 18.9% below forecast as curtailments in Kyushu and poor weather weighed on output, according to a Tuesday filing on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.

The portfolio generated 19.73 million kWh during the month, or 81.09% of the 24.34 million kWh forecast.

Heavy snowfall and weak irradiance also contributed to the shortfall. Eleven plants, including CS Yusui-cho and CS Ashikita-machi, produced less than 70% of expected output.

Kyushu-based facilities were hit hardest, with plants such as CS Isa-shi and CS Shibushi-shi curtailed for up to 13 days in March, according to notifications from regional grid operators.

Under lease terms, the fund receives at least 70% of projected rent when monthly generation falls significantly short.

CO2 reduction for March was estimated at 8.7 million kilograms.
