Bitcoin Rises After Temporary Tech Tariff Exemption -- Market Talk

0835 GMT - Bitcoin rises on improved risk sentiment after the U.S. announced a temporary tariff exemption on smartphones and other electronic products from China. The exemption has sparked speculation that more tariff reversals could follow, ING analysts say in a note. However, markets remain cautious after President Trump indicated that tariffs on semiconductors are imminent and a decision on phones will follow soon, they say. "Mixed signals from Washington and ongoing trade tensions have sown confusion among investors, weakening the dollar and raising concerns about long-term investment planning and U.S. economic stability." Bitcoin rises 1.2% to $84.474 after hitting a one-and-a-half-week high of $86,042 Sunday, according to LSEG. (renae.dyer@wsj.com)
