Alphabet's (GOOG, GOOGL) Google has been issued a cease-and-desist order by Japan's Fair Trade Commission to stop alleged practices that force smartphone makers to prioritize the US technology company's services, the regulator said Tuesday.
The regulator said Google has been preventing other providers' search services by requiring manufacturers to preinstall the Google Chrome browser on the default home screen of Android smartphones before selling their products to consumers.
The regulator said Google has been performing an act that breaches Article 19 of the Antimonopoly Act.
Google did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comment.
