Energy stocks rose premarket Thursday as the Energy Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLE) advanced by 0.9% recently.
The United States Oil Fund (USO) was up 1.1% and the United States Natural Gas Fund (UNG) was 0.4% lower.
Front-month US West Texas Intermediate crude oil was up 1.6% at $62.79 per barrel at the New York Mercantile Exchange. Global benchmark North Sea Brent crude oil gained 1.4% to $66.76 per barrel. Natural gas futures were 1.2% lower at $3.207 per 1 million British Thermal Units.
BP (BP) and partner Kosmos Energy (KOS) said the first cargo of liquefied natural gas from the Greater Tortue Ahmeyim project, offshore Mauritania and Senegal, has been safely loaded. Shares of Kosmos Energy were up more than 8% premarket.
Woodside Energy (WDS) shares advanced by over 2% after the company said it signed two long-term agreements with Uniper for the sale of up to 2 million metric tons per annum of liquefied natural gas, backing the company's Louisiana LNG project.
Diamondback Energy (FANG) shares were up 1.8% after the company released updates that showed higher-than-expected repurchases of its common stock and above-consensus realized pricing for oil and natural gas during Q1.
