** ASX-listed shares of aluminium producer Alcoa AAI.AX rise as much as 5.4% to A$39.970, their highest level since April 10

** Aluminium prices gain alongside other metals as sentiment picks up on easing tensions surrounding relations between major economies MET/L

** Co extending gains after having closed 4.1% higher in the previous session

** YTD, AAI down 33%
