Toyota Motor plans to invest an additional $88 million in its West Virginia plant to assemble a key component for hybrid vehicles, bringing the total investment in the plant to more than $2.8 billion.
The Japanese automaker said Wednesday that production of hybrid transaxles is set to begin in late 2026, with plans to use them in future Toyota and Lexus models. The hybrid transaxle is an important component in electrified vehicles that transfers power seamlessly between the engine, electric motor and wheels, it said.
