Stellantis (STLA) and Factorial Energy said Thursday that they have validated automotive-sized solid-state battery cells designed for use in electric vehicles.

The 77 ampere-hour automotive-sized Factorial Electrolyte System Technology battery cells with a high energy density of 375 watt-hour per kilogram enable faster charging and can operate in temperatures from -30 degrees Celsius to 45 degrees Celsius, according to the companies.

Stellantis plans to integrate Factorial's solid-state battery cells into a demonstration fleet by 2026, the companies said.

Shares of Stellantis were up more than 2% in recent trading.
