Duke Energy inked a deal with GE Vernova under which it will receive up to 11 natural gas turbines and other associated equipment.
Charlotte, N.C.-based Duke Energy, an electric-utility holding company, said Thursday that the partnership would allow it meet the growing needs of advanced manufacturing, data centers and population growth.
Terms of the agreement weren't disclosed.
The deal is possible because of the ongoing expansion of energy company GE Vernova's facility in Greenville, S.C., Duke said. The expansion is set to replace legacy manufacturing processes with lean manufacturing lines, which are set to support increases in supplier capacity.
GE Vernova Chief Executive Scott Strazik said the deal illustrates the company's ability to develop solutions that customers require to meet energy demands.
"As we continue to experience unprecedented growth in our service territories, securing the necessary materials to build critical infrastructure and meet the energy demand is integral to delivering value for our customers," Duke Chief Executive Harry Sideris said.
